Grayson County Booking Photos and Records
Booking records created at the Grayson County Jail are public under the Texas Public Information Act (Government Code Chapter 552). Each record includes the inmate's full name, date of birth, booking number, physical description, charges, and bond details. A booking photo is taken at intake and becomes part of the official record. Arrest agency and date of arrest are also included in the file.
Current inmate records appear in the online search tool and are updated regularly. Older records may not be in the online system, but they can still be obtained by making a formal request. The Grayson County Jail has been active for many years and maintains a large archive of past booking records. All records stay on file unless a court orders them removed through expunction or nondisclosure.
Grayson County is one of the more active North Texas counties for arrests, given its proximity to the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area and the Oklahoma state line. The jail processes hundreds of bookings each month between the two facilities.
Note: Juvenile arrest records are not part of the standard public information system and require a separate process to access.
How to Request Grayson County Jail Records
For current booking information, start with the online inmate search. It shows what is in custody now and does not require any formal request. For older records, booking photos not in the online system, or printed copies of arrest records, submit a public information request to the Grayson County Sheriff's Office.
You can submit your request in person at 200 South Crockett Street in Sherman during regular business hours. You can also mail your written request to the same address. Include the subject's full name, date of birth, and approximate arrest date. Under the Texas Public Information Act, the Sheriff's Office must respond within 10 business days. There may be fees for copies or extensive records research. The county can also provide guidance on requesting criminal court records through the County Clerk's office.
For statewide criminal history beyond what the county holds, use the Texas DPS Crime Records Division. That database covers arrests from agencies across the state.

Removing an Arrest Record in Grayson County
An arrest record in Grayson County stays on file unless a court orders it destroyed or sealed. Texas law allows for expunction of certain arrest records under Texas Code of Criminal Procedure Chapter 55. You may qualify if charges were dropped, you were found not guilty, or the case was dismissed without a final conviction. The process starts with filing a petition in district court.
If a court grants expunction, every agency that holds a record of that arrest, including the Grayson County Sheriff's Office, must destroy or return those files. That includes the booking photo. After the order takes effect, you can legally say the arrest did not happen. Orders of nondisclosure are another path. They seal the record rather than destroy it, which limits who can see it but does not fully erase it. A local attorney in Sherman or Denison can explain which option fits your case and walk you through the filing steps.
